I will mainly focus on basketball and rap because that is what I know most about. It is a well-known idea that rappers want to be hoopers and hoopers want to be rappers. This intersection is very common and very prevalent. Jordan became the face of basketball in his era and this made him a pop culture icon. He remains prevalent in rap lyrics to this day. It's easy to show the other side of this connection. An athlete's pre-game and workout playlist becomes part of their identity as it reflects the music they love and that gets them in the zone. It is very common for hip-hop to be a part of these playlists due to the hype nature of a lot of rap songs.
